When garlic chives are plentiful in the garden, I make this super simple and delicious quick stir-fry side dish with them.
Here’s how to make garlic chives with chili garlic sauce. Enjoy 🙂
Give one bunch of garlic chives a good wash.
Chop the garlic chives into approximately 1 inch (2 – 3 cm) pieces.
Heat a bit of oil in a pan (1 tbsp should be sufficient).
I use grapeseed oil, but any neutral oil such as sunflower or canola works well.
When the pan is hot, toss in the garlic chives, and 1/2 tsp asian chili garlic sauce (adjust quantity of chili garlic sauce for more or less heat).
Stir everything around for about a minute so all the garlic chives get exposed to the heat.
And you’re done!
Serve as a side dish. Also delicious on top of rice on its own.
Helpful tips:
🌿I pick and wash the garlic chives in the morning, and store them in the fridge to use later in the day. Garlic chives harvested in the morning are firmer and juicier.
🌿Asian chili garlic sauce is a convenient all-in-one seasoning, containing salt, garlic, and chili pepper. You can find it in most grocery stores in the asian section.
🌿Garlic chives are not commonly available in the supermarkets in my area, unless I go to an asian market. They are however, very easy to grow in your own garden and can be started from seed or plant starts.
Find assorted garlic chive seeds or plant starts at Richters Herbs.
Enjoy 🙂
